Josef K was pulling at threads trying to find a way out of the precarious legal situation he’d found himself in. He’d been arrested but with no definitive charge and hence no real potential for defense. One such thread was a tip by a colleague to visit the court portrait artist, Titorelli, who was said to possess insider knowledge of the court proceedings, including the one brought against K. After a confused set of instructions by Titorelli on the various types of acquittals—information which proved less than helpful—K, in a desperate attempt to leave the painter’s unbearably stuffy studio, agreed to the purchase of three heathscapes. 

This show highlights the work of Titorelli, specifically his heathscapes, such as the ones purchased by K despite his distaste of them.
