The Buffalo Institute for Contemporary Art (BICA) is an artist-run nonprofit building creative life in Buffalo through exhibitions, education, publishing, and direct support for artists. Located on the West Side in the historic Essex Street Arts Center, BICA champions ambitious contemporary art that’s rooted in place and open to the world. All of our programs—from free exhibitions to an alternative art school and regional print magazine—are designed to make art accessible while investing in Buffalo’s cultural future.
